  11. Welcome to the PsL November 1993 CD. This month's CD contains over 600
  12. programs received by PsL in the last 30 days.

  14. 1. License & Warranty:

  16. Run PSL_NEWS to read the CD-ROM usage license and warranty.

  19. 2. PsL News Files:
  20.  
  21. The files PSL_NEWS.0 thru *.9 are the text of the current PsL News. These
  22. files are in the PSL_NEWS directory and are read by PSL_NEWS.EXE. They are
  23. also in the file PSL_9311.ZIP in the \DOS\ELEC_PUB directory.

  26. 3. File Format:
  27.  
  28. All programs are in ZIP format. Some very large programs have also been
  29. installed on the CD so that individual users of the CD (as opposed to BBS
  30. users) can more easily try them out without having to go through a long,
  31. disk-space eating installation.

  33. The "preinstalled files" directories do not have FILES.BBS files, as they are
  34. not intended for downloading (because the same files are in ZIP format in
  35. other directories). Sysops will probably want to hide the directories of
  36. preinstalled programs.

  38. All ZIPs have FILE_ID.DIZ files in them for easier BBS use.

  75. 5. FILES.BBS files:

  77. For BBS use, we have added FILES.BBS files listing the contents of each ZIP
  78. file directory. We have been told a dozen different formats to use, but the
  79. format we used was the one most common to the various formats mentioned:

  86. 6. The \SCREENS Directory

  88. The Screens directory contains screen shots of many programs on this CD.
  89. For information about how to see the screen shots while reading PSL_NEWS,
  90. see TOGETHER.DOC in the SCREENS directory.

  93. 7. Reviews Files
  94.  
  95. In the REVIEWS directory are the reviews of the more than 8000 programs in
  96. PsL's disk-based collection. (These programs are NOT all on this CD.)

  98. The files RVW_??.ZIP in REVIEWS\RVW_ZIP are ZIP files of the Reviews by
  99. category (with ?? being a two-letter category code).

  118. The RUNTIMES directory contain run-time files required by some other programs.

  121. 9. YOU Make This CD.

  123. Your comments and suggestions are appreciated. We are striving to make this
  124. the ideal CD for sysops and vendors, as well as for individual and users. We
  125. will implement every possibly suggestion that will still allow us to produce
  126. the CD in a timely manner.

  128. If you are a programmer and want your program distributed on this CD, simply
  129. send it on disk to the address below.

  143. Now press ESC and the PSL_NEWS.EXE program will run.
  144.     
  145. Once the program is running, you can press F1 for more instructions,
  146. although the use of the program should be pretty obvious and simple.
  147.  
  148. In brief, you select a category, read about programs, and press I to
  149. install one. The installation will leave you at the DOS prompt. At
  150. that point, change to the drive and directory you specified during the
  151. installation.

  153. PsL's installation simply un-ZIPs the files onto your hard disk.
  154. Some programs may require you to perform a further installation.
  155. After the files are put on your hard disk. Look for files like INSTALL 
  156. or files with README in the name or with extensions of .DOC or .TXT.
  157. These files can be read with the VIEW program from the CD. If your CD
  158. is drive D:, for example, type D:\VIEW READ.ME (after you change to
  159. the installed program's drive and directory).
